Demographic Intelligence Family Survey

The Demographic Intelligence Family Survey (DIFS) was first launched in response to uncertainty about how the COVID-19 pandemic would impact family formation in America. Now, administered at regular intervals, the DIFS polls a representative sample of women (including a longitudinal oversample of women, making it possible to track the same women over time) about a range of topics from fertility intentions, to family stability, to attitudes and values, to brand recognition and breastfeeding behavior. As the only survey of fertility preferences and behavior administered more than once a year, the DIFS provides an invaluable look at how fertility and family are changing in real time.
